Eagles quarterback Michael Vick is scheduled for an MRI today and Eagles fans are bracing for bad news.
Comcast SportsNet has already reported that Vick has three broken ribs and could miss up to six weeks of action. However, The NFL Network said there were no broken ribs and the Philadelphia Inquirer reported that the Eagles really won't know the severity of the injury until the MRI.
“I know he’s sore,” said coach Andy Reid. “I can tell you that, or he would have been out there."
Vick left the Eagles' 17-12 loss to Donovan McNabb and Washington late in the first quarter on Sunday after getting sandwiched by Redskins defensive backs DeAngelo Hall and Kareem Moore at the end of a brillant run that was erased by a holding call.
Kevin Kolb replaced Vick and finished 21-for-35 for 201 yards with a touchdown and an interception but looked unsure of himself and checked down far too often.
FoxSports reported late Sunday that the Eagles will reach out to veteran quarterback Jeff Garcia if Vick is out for a substantial amount of time since rookie Mike Kafka is not ready. Garcia is currently playing for the Omaha NightHawks of the UFL and Philadelphia would be responsible for a buyout fee of $150,000 if they want to sign Garcia.
