The Flyers have confirmed that goaltender Michael Leighton needs back surgery and may miss up to two months of action.
Leighton will undergo a partial discectomy on Monday, October 11, according to general manager Paul Holmgren. The procedure will be performed by Dr. Alex Vacarro at Methodist Hospital in Philadelphia and will keep Leighton sidelined anywhere form six to eight weeks.
