The Dallas Cowboys and Rich Eisen have a lot in common.
The Cowboys tried to get better by trading up at the expense of your beloved Philadelphia Eagles in last weekend's NFL Draft. Meanwhile, NFL Network anchor Eisen was trying to trade up with Philadelphia to "better" his situation.
But, that pesky e-mail, an invention that has tripped up many of us, put the kibosh on Eisen.
If you haven't heard the story by now Eisen made the mistake of sharing an e-mail box with his wife, ABC sideline reporter Suzy Shuster. Sounds innocent enough but Rich reportedly received some interesting correspondence from CBS 3 news babe Alycia Lane.
According to a report in the New York Post - Eisen received a number of bikini clad shots of the uber-hot Lane. But, before he could enjoy them, Mrs. Eisen got to them first and showed a biting, sarcastic sense of humor in a return e-mail.
"Boy, do you look amazing in a bikini -- congrats! Whatever you're doing,(Pilates? yoga?) keep doing it - it's working for you," Shuster wrote back. "Anyway, sorry but those seven e-mails you sent to my husband, Rich, well, oops, they came to the e-mail address we both use from time to time, but no worries, I'll forward the beach shots as well as the ones of you dancing with your friends on to his main address. Do you have it?"
She then provided her hubby's private e-mail and finished up.

Now understand, Eisen has already ripped a double down the line in his personal life by snagging Shuster. But, he wanted the home run and let's be honest, Suzy is just not in Lane's league.
Believe me that's no insult. A newscaster probably shouldn't have a name that translates so well to the stage at your local strip joint. Perhaps more importantly, they shouldn't have the "talent" to pull such a move off. Ms. Lane could make the transition with nary a hiccup.
Think about it -- Can't you hear the DJ at Wizards right now as "Pour Some Sugar on Me" thumps in the background..."Welcome Alycia Lane to the main stage..."
I'm sure Suzy's e-mail wasn't indicative of the way she handled the situation in private with her hubby. And I'm sure Eisen will be paying dearly over the next few months but I applaud him for trying to trade up.
Already a stunning overachiever -- in the mold of a McMullen, Rushton, Lienert, Wiley or Gottlieb -- Eisen was reaching for the stars and trying to win that elusive championship.
Isn't that better than settling....say for Kevin Kolb.

In the words of Harry Kalas, "Rich Eisen, you are the man."
