The Philadelphia Phillies placed relief pitcher Ryan Madson on the 15-day disabled list on Saturday due to a left oblique strain.
Madson has apparently had discomfort in the area since Spring Training. He is 0-2 with a 3.63 earned run average on the season through 12 games, but has pitched better as of late, posting a 0.87 ERA over his last seven outings.
To replace Madson on the roster, Philadelphia recalled right-hander Clay Condrey from Triple-A Ottawa. Condrey, who should join the club on Sunday, had a 3.52 ERA in four relief outings with Ottawa. He began the season on the Phillies roster and had a 2.25 ERA in three games before being sent down.
