Sixers get Wright in salary dump

The Sixers love small forwards. The lengthy Dorell Wright was acquired in a trade with the Golden State Warriors for Edin Bavcic, the Sixers late second round pick in 2006.

The deal served as a salary dump for the Warriors and gives Philadelphia a solid weak-side 3-point threat.

The 6-foot-9 Wright is in the final year of his contract that will pay him $4.4 million this season, and he is coming off a solid campaign that saw him average 10.3 points and 4.6 rebounds per contest. He posted 16.4 points per game during the 2010-2011 season.

Wright was originally the 19th overall pick in the first round of the 2004 draft out of South Kent Prep in Connecticut. The Los Angeles native led the NBA in both 3-pointers made and attempted in 2010-11 and won an NBA championship in South Beach back in 2006.
