Birds' WR Cooper felled by broken collarbone

Eagles WR Riley Cooper
Eagles training camp has claimed its first victim.

Wide receiver Riley Cooper sustained a broken left collarbone during a Saturday practice and will be out six weeks, according to head coach Andy Reid.

"Riley Cooper will have surgery on Monday to fix that collarbone," the coach said. "They’ll plate the collarbone and we’re thinking six weeks in that area."

The fifth-round draft pick in 2010 finished last season with 16 catches for 315 yards and a touchdown in 16 games for Philadelphia.

Asked how the Eagles would replace Cooper, the team's fourth receiver, Reid pointed to his young players.

“I’m going to just leave it the way it is. We’re going to leave it and let the young guys get some work in and see what they can do," said Reid.
