Flyers' Zherdev involved in domestic incident

PHILADELPHIA (The Phanatic Magazine) - Flyers winger Nikolay Zherdev was reportedly involved in an  ugly incident with his wife on Wednesday, according to Russian newspaper Moskovsky Komsomolets.

Eyewitnesses told the newspaper hat Zherdev and his wife got into an argument when they were out to breakfast with friends before his wife left the restaurant and got in Zherdev’s car. An angry Zherdev caught up to the vehicle on foot and started hitting it with a metal pole he had picked up while threatening his wife’s life.

Zherdev, an upcoming free agent spent, scored 16 goals and six assists in 56 regular season games while earning $2 million last season.

"We are aware of the reports but until we have spoken to Nikolay and have more information, we will not comment," said Flyers GM Paul Holmgren.
