PHILADELPHIA -Eagles backup quarterback Vince Young, who took some snaps today but hasn't practiced all week, has been listed as doubtful for the team's opener in St. Louis this weekend with a hamstring injury.
Mike Kakfa will likely be Michael Vick's backup with receiver Jason Avant serving as the emergency quarterback.
Safety Nate Allen (knee), defensive tackle Antonio Dixon (back), tight end Clay Harbor (shoulder), right tackle Todd Herremans (back), safety Jaiquawn Jarrett (quadricep), tackle Winston Justice (knee), defensive tackle Trevor Laws (hip), defensive end Juqua Parker (calf), cornerback Asante Samuel (shoulder), wide receiver Steve Smith (knee) and guard G Danny Watkins (foot) were all listed as probable.
Smith, the ex-Giant Pro Bowler who is coming off microfracture knee surgery, is the most surprising name on that list and could see action Sunday.
“There’s a chance he does [play]," Eagles coach Reid said when asked about Smith. "There’s a chance, but I can’t tell you how many snaps or that. He has not had any swelling in it (the knee). And I know our doctors and trainers have worked hard with him on that and kept a close eye on him. But his body is just unique, I think.”
Samuel, meanwhile, banged-up his shoulder at practice today but should be good to go.
"Asante [Samuel] just tweaked his shoulder a little bit and he should be okay; he’ll be on the report as probable," Reid said. "So I think when it’s all said and done he’s fine.”
