The Eagles have re-signed cornerback Joselio Hanson to a two-year contract and released CB Trevard Lindley.
"Well there are a lot of things that go into it," Eagles coach Andy Reid said when asked about bringing Hanson back. "[Eagles General Manager] Howie [Roseman] and I decided, as time went on here, that we’d bring him back. Obviously it has to be a two-way consent there. Jose wanted to come back and we wanted him back, so it all worked out.”
A solid slot corner Hanson (5-foot-9, 185) has appeared in 75 regular season games (15 starts) for the Eagles since 2006, recording 182 tackles, four interceptions, 2.5 sacks and 47 special teams tackles.
Reid would not define Hanson's role, however.
“We’ll see how all that goes," the coach said. "I’m not, obviously, going to say who I’m playing and not playing. I mean, that’s not what we do, right?”
Originally an undrafted free agent signing of the San Francisco 49ers in 2003 out of Texas Tech, Hanson spent his entire rookie campaign on the team’s practice squad. He made the active roster the following year and posted 20 tackles and a sack in 13 games, including three starts.
Hanson did not play for an NFL team in 2005 after being released by the 49ers prior to the start of the regular season. He signed with the Eagles in January of 2006 and was allocated to NFL Europe where he recorded 15 tackles and seven pass breakups for the World Champion Frankfurt Galaxy. He eventually earned a roster spot on the Eagles that season after an impressive training camp.
