Duke sophomore center Brian Zoubek, who starred at Haddonfield High School in South Jersey, will miss at least the next two months following surgery to repair a fifth metatarsal fracture in his left foot. The 7-footer suffered the injury during a pick-up game on Monday.
The procedure was performed Tuesday at Duke University Medical Center by Dr. James Nunley and Dr. Dean Taylor and was deemed successful.
“It is a setback for Brian,” Duke head coach Mike Krzyzewski said. “He worked diligently this summer to add weight to his frame and he did so successfully. The surgery went very well according to our medical team, so we’ll have him back on the court in due time. We have total confidence that Brian will play an important role on our team in 2007-08.”
Zoubek averaged 3.1 points and 2.2 rebounds per game for Duke as a freshman.
