Help is on the way for the Philadelphia Flyers, though it is probably too late to save their season. Both center Mike Richards and forward Geoff Sanderson are expected back in the lineup for tonight's game against the Islanders.
Both suffered abdominal injuries in early December in a game against Washington.
Sanderson was having a decent season before his injury (8G, 9A), but the few Flyers fans left should be most excited about Richards' return.
Since Day 1, the Flyers have been selling Richards as a playmaking center with future leadership skills that will one day put a "C" on is sweater. However, he has followed up a good freshman season with a sub par year two.
Prior to his injury, he had just one goal and nine assists. He will, because of his speed and vision, help immediately on the penalty kill however.
