In lieu of Steve Spagnuolo heading up the turnpike, the Philadelphia Eagles made a pair of coaching moves on Tuesday. The team named Sean McDermott linebackers coach and John Harbaugh secondary coach.
The 32-year old McDermott worked as the Eagles secondary coach for the past three seasons. Prior to that, he served as the team's defensive assistant/quality control coach from 2001-02, working with the linebackers. A safety at William and Mary from, McDermott began his coaching career at his alma mater in 1998 before joining the Eagles as a scouting assistant later that year.
Harbaugh, 44, served as the Eagles special teams coordinator for the past nine seasons and, in 2001, Harbaugh was chosen by his peers as the NFL's special teams coach of the year. He was originally hired by Ray Rhodes in 1998 after a 14-year stint as an assistant coach on the collegiate level.
