Sixers trade Speights to Memphis

Sixers big man Marreese Speights is on his way to Memphis as part of a three-team deal that gives Philadelphia a pair of future draft picks.

The deal, which has been agreed upon and is pending league approval, sends Speights to the Grizzlies and shooting guard Xavier Henry to New Orleans while the Sixers would acquire the two second rounds picks in the 2013 darft, one from Memphia and another from NOLA.

Speights has fallen behind both rookie Nikola Vucevic and second-year forward Craig Brackins on the Sixers' depth chart. Coach Doug Collins has continuously preached rebounding and defense along with conditioning to the offensive-minded Florida product and a fresh start under a different voice is probably in his best interest at this point.

Speights has not seen any action thus far in the Sixers' four games. He played in 39 games last season, averaging 5.4 points and 3.3 rebounds in 11.5 minutes.
