Temple's Allen named A-10 Player of the Week

For the second straight week Temple senior forward Lavoy Allen has been named the Atlantic 10 Conference Player of the Week for the week ending March 5.  It is his fourth career A-10 weekly honor.
The Morrisville, Pa. native (Pennsbury High) averaged 19.0 points, 14.5 rebounds, 2.0 blocks and 1.5 assists per game in the Owls’ 2-0 week.

The 6-9 forward extended his streak of double-doubles to five in recording his ninth and tenth double-doubles of the season.  He scored 14 points and pulled down a season-high 18 rebounds in Temple’s 73-67 overtime win at UMass on Wednesday.   Allen followed that with a game and career high 24 points on Senior Day to help the Owls to a 90-82 victory over La Salle.  He also grabbed 11 rebounds in his final home game of his career.

Allen, who is Temple’s all-time rebound leader (1,103) and ranks 27th on the all-time scoring list with 1,380 points, leads the Owls and ranks fourth in the A-10 with an 8.3 rebound average.  He also tops the team and ranks fourth in the league in blocks per game (1.8 bpg.) while placing second on the squad with an 11.8 scoring average.

The Owls (24-6, 14-2 in Atlantic 10) are the #2-seed in the A-10 Championship and open play Friday night at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City against the winner of Tuesday’s #10-seed La Salle at #7-seed St, Bonaventure winner.  Tip time Friday is 6:30 p.m. (The Comcast Network/1210 AM WPHT).
