Eight Temple Owls make All-MAC First Team

CLEVELAND (12/1/10) – For the second consecutive year, a school record eight Temple Owls earned first-team All-Mid-American Conference honors for football, the league announced on Wednesday.

Named to the first team were senior DB Jaiquawn Jarrett (Brooklyn, N.Y.), senior NT Elisha Joseph (Hartford, Conn.), senior OL Colin Madison (Villa Park, Ill.), r-senior OL Darius Morris (Long Branch, N.J.), sophomore RB Bernard Pierce (Ardmore, Pa.), junior DE Adrian Robinson (Harrisburg, Pa.), r-junior TE Evan Rodriguez (North Bergen, N.J.), and junior DT Muhammad Wilkerson (Linden, N.J).

Named to the second team were sophomore RB Matt Brown (Baltimore, Md.) and senior LB Elijah “Peanut” Joseph (Hartford, Conn.).  Senior WR Michael Campbell (Edison, N.J.) earned third-team honors.

The 11 All-MAC honorees are the second-most for the Owls since joining the MAC in 2007. Last season, Temple also had eight first-team honorees and a school record 15 All-MAC honorees overall.

Jarrett, Madison, Morris, Pierce, Robinson, and Wilkerson are Temple’s first repeat MAC first-team selections. They join DT Dan Klecko (Big East 2001, 2002) as the only two-time first-team conference honorees in school history.

Temple led all MAC schools with 11 honorees, followed by Central Michigan and Kent State with nine each, and Miami with eight. The Owls’ eight first-team selections were the most of any MAC team, followed by Northern Illinois with six.

During its fourth season of MAC play, the Owls finished the regular season at 8-4 overall and 5-3 in the MAC’s East Division. Temple now awaits a bowl bid which will be announced on Dec. 5.
