The Detroit Free Press is reporting that the sister and cousin of former Sixers guard Willie Green died in a car accident last night after attending the New Orleans Hornets-Detroit Pistons game.
Green, a Detroit native who now plays with the Hornets, had many of his family members at the game.
“They went off the roadway at a high rate of speed, went airborne and hit the tree with the roof of the car,” [Police Lt. Robert] Redmond said this morning. “It wasn’t the road conditions; the road was fine. It was the speed. Where there’s the least amount of protection is the roof of the car.”
Alcohol may have been a factor, police say.
