The Flyers announced on Tuesday that goaltender Ray Emery will undergo season-ending surgery on his right hip.
"He is suffering from avascular necrosis and will have a bone graft done to alleviate his hip issues," said general manager Paul Holmgren said.
The surgery will be performed by Dr. David Ruch at Duke University Medical Center and the date and time of the procedure will be determined at a future date.
Emery, 27, has a 16-11-1 record with a 2.64 goals-against average and .905 save percentage, including three shutouts, in 29 appearances with the Flyers this season.
