Scanlon named GM of PPL Park

Mike Scanlon has been named PPL Park's first General Manager.

Scanlon will oversee all of Global Spectrum's management of PPL Park, including operations of Ovations Food Services and New Era Tickets, its Comcast-Spectacor sister companies and coordinate all aspects of Keystone Sports and Entertainment LLC (KSE) operations of the 18,500-seat facility currently under construction on the banks of the Delaware River.

PPL Park, the home field of Philadelphia Union of Major League Soccer, is scheduled to open in June, 2010. It will also host concerts, football, lacrosse and civic events too.

"When we met with Mike Scanlon, we were impressed by more than just his complete knowledge of the facilities management business," said KSE and Philadelphia Union CEO & Operating Partner Nick Sakiewicz. "Mike was totally in tune with our approach to customer service and understood that to us, treating our customers with the utmost respect will always be our top priority."

Scanlon, most recently served as GM of the Chaifetz Arena on the campus of Saint Louis University, in St. Louis, MO. That venue is just one of more than 85 in the Global Spectrum family, a subsidiary of Comcast-Spectacor.

"For me, this is a great opportunity on a number of levels," said Scanlon. "First and foremost, it's a great new venue, with unlimited possibilities for soccer and other sports. And there's nothing else like it in the area.

"For concerts, we'll seat 25,000 and with the grassy areas adjacent to the stadium itself, it'll be a destination for music lovers who can spend all day experiencing the beauty of the river and the music. That's a tough combination to beat."
