The Philadelphia Flyers placed goaltender Ray Emery on long-term injured reserve and waived forward Riley Cote on Monday.
Emery had been on injured reserve since February 3 after suffering a left-hip injury which the team said was not related to abdominal surgery he underwent in December.
The 27-year-old went 16-11-1 with a 2.64 goals-against average and three shutouts during his first season with Philadelphia.
Cote did not register a point in 12 games this season but has been a healthy scratch since December 21. The former undrafted free agent and Winnipeg native has one goal and seven points over 153 games in the last four years, all with the Flyers.
The moves are in anticipation of defenseman Ryan Parent coming off injured reserve prior to Tuesday's contest at Tampa Bay, and also possibly a precursor to a deal which will occur by Wednesday's trade deadline.
