With Michael Leighton off in Columbus, the other organizational yo-yo just had his string pulled yet again on Monday.
Defenseman Danny Syvret was shipped to the New York Rangers in exchange for forward Kris Newbury.
It's the third goodbye for the blueliner who scored his first NHL goal at the 2010 Winter Classic. He totaled six goals and 34 assists in 76 games for the Adirondack Phantoms last season.
Newbury, who can be classified as an "enforcer" at the AHL level, went for 20 goals and 62 points along with 127 penalty minutes in 70 games for the Connecticut Whale. The 31-year-old had one assist and nine PIM in six appearances for the Rangers.
For Syvret, it's another chance to try and break into the NHL level of a given organization. He only participated in 27 games over parts of three seasons here, while also failing to make headway with Edmonton, then Anaheim and St. Louis in between Flyers stints.
