PHILADELPHIA - For the second week in a row, Philadelphia Soul players have won AFL weekly awards, as QB Dan Raudabaugh was awarded the Russell Athletic Offensive Player of the Week and WR Andrae Thurman was awarded the J. Lewis Small
Playmaker of the Week for their performance in Saturday's
Division-clinching 66-57 victory over the Cleveland Gladiators.
Raudabaugh is also a nominee for Week 15's MVP, which will be decided by
the fans on the league's website.
Raudabaugh (6'3, 230, Miami (OH)), had an stellar performance last week, connecting on 25-of-28 passes, for 285 yards and six touchdowns, including not throwing an incompletion until his 19th pass, in the Soul's win.
Thurman
(6'0, 185, Arizona) earned the J. Lewis Small Playmaker of the Week
after a four-touchdown performance against the Gladiators. He recorded
seven catches for 113 yards and three touchdowns. Thurman also made an
impact on special teams, returning two kickoffs for 65 yards to include a
55-yard return for a touchdown.
"Dan
has been making good reads and the right throws," explained Soul head
coach Clint Dolezel. "He's been putting the ball where it needs to be
and that's why he's been so successful. As far as Andrae, this was a
break-out game for him both receiving and on special teams. Both of
these guys are playing at a high-level right now and they're helping us
win."
