Soul playoff tix on sale

PHILADELPHIA (June 18, 2012) – After a convincing 62-27 victory over the Jacksonville Sharks (6-7) on Saturday and losses by other teams in the American Conference, the Arena Football League Office confirmed that the 2012 Eastern Division champion, Philadelphia Soul (11-3) have clinched home-field advantage throughout the American Conference playoffs.

“At the beginning of the season, we said that we have an order in which we need to achieve our goals,” said Soul head coach Doug Plank.  “Make the playoffs, win our division, secure home-field advantage, win our home playoff games, make it to the ArenaBowl and win the championship.  With this news, it looks like we accomplished half of those goals this weekend.  But, the task now will be to remain focused and complete the mission.”

The Soul have the AFL’s best record and have the No. 1 ranked offense (67.5 points per game) led by Player of the Year candidates: QB Dan Raudabaugh, FB Derrick Ross and WR Tiger Jones.  Raudabaugh, who has 87 touchdown passes and 3,816 passing yards, is on the verge of setting single-season franchise marks for touchdowns (90 by Tony Graziani in 2005) and passing yards (4,261 by Graziani in 2005).  Ross already has shattered Soul single-season records for rushing yards (459) and rushing touchdowns (26), while setting the single-game marks for rushing yards (84) and touchdowns (5).  Jones, who has 114 catches for 1,688 yards and 38 touchdowns, has his eyes set on capturing team marks for receptions (140 by Chris Jackson in 2008), receiving yards (1,959 by Donovan Morgan in 2011) and touchdowns (49 by Jackson in 2008).

The first-round playoff game will be played on the weekend of July 27-29 at the Wells Fargo Center.  Playoff tickets are now on sale.  Contact the Soul sales department at (215) 253-4900 ext. 3, or request contact from a representative by filling out the form on www.philadelphiasoul.com.
