Sixers' Iguodala named to NBA All-Defensive Second Team

Sixers F Andre Iguodala
The NBA announced the voting results for league’s All-Defensive Teams today and Sixers forward Andre Iguodala was named to the Second Team.  He becomes the first Sixers player to earn a spot on an All-Defensive Team since Eric Snow was named to the Second Team in 2002-03.  Additionally, Jrue Holiday received one vote for All-Defensive Team.

This past season, the Sixers ranked 12th in points allowed and ninth in opponents’ field goal percentage after finishing 18th and 22nd in those categories in 2009-10.  Philly also ranked sixth in the league in opponents’ 3-point percentage this season after finishing last in 2009-10.

With Iguodala in the lineup, the Sixers were 36-31 and allowed 96.9 points on 44.9% shooting from the floor compared to a 5-10 mark in games he missed, in which the opposition averaged 100.1 ppg on 46.4% shooting.

The voting panel consisted of the NBA’s 30 head coaches, who were asked to select NBA All-Defensive First and Second Teams by position. Coaches were not permitted to vote for players from their own team.  Two points were awarded for a First Team vote and one point was awarded for a Second Team vote.
