As the Philadelphia Wings prepare to open the 2011 National Lacrosse League season at the Wells Fargo Center on Saturday, January 8, at 7 p.m. the team is reuniting as many of their former players as possible to celebrate the team’s 25th anniversary season.
Nearly 25 former players will reunite on the field at the end of the first period of Saturday’s home opener against the Boston Blazers.
“The Philadelphia Wings have a long-standing tradition in this town and we have had so many great players suit up for us over the years,” said Wings Owner Russ Cline. “We are looking forward to bringing many of our fans’ favorite players back together again to help us celebrate our 25th anniversary season.”
Season ticket holders that have held seats prior to the 1990 Wings season have been selected to escort alumni on the turf for introductions after the first quarter. As a special treat for all Wings fans in attendance, the reunited players will sign free autographs at the AT&T Pavilion during halftime intermission.
Wings alumni expected to attend include Jeff Spano, Tom Marechek, Bob Powers, John McEvoy, George Corrigan, Ryan Traynor, Kevin Finneran, Chris Flynn, John Nostrant, Paul Deniken, Gary Martin, Jake Bergey, Brian Dougherty, Mike Busza and Paul French.
Tickets to see the Wings home opener, as well as tickets to the other seven home games in the 2010 NLL season, are available now at ComcastTIX.com, by calling 1-800-298-4200 or in person at the Wachovia Center box office. Season tickets are available by calling 215-389-WING.
