The Flyers have recalled defenseman Danny Syvret from their American Hockey League affiliate, the Adirondack Phantoms.
Syvret, 25, has posted five goals and seven assists for 12 points in 19 games for the Phantoms this season since being acquired in a trade with the Anaheim Ducks on November 21st. He signed as a free agent with Anaheim in the offseason and appeared in six games for the Ducks this year, recording a goal and an assist. He also had four assists in eight games for Anaheim’s AHL affiliate, the Syracuse Crunch.
Prior to signing with Anaheim, Syvret played in the Flyers organization for the past two seasons (2008-10). He appeared in 21 games for the Flyers last season, scoring two goals and adding two assists for four points. One of the goals came in the NHL Winter Classic against the Boston Bruins at Fenway Park, where Syvret posted his first NHL goal and the only one of the game for the Flyers. He also appeared in 15 games for the Phantoms last season, posting five goals and eight assists.
During the 2008-09 campaign, Syvret finished second among all AHL defensemen in scoring with 12 goals and 45 assists for 57 points in 76 games for the Phantoms in the team’s final year in Philadelphia. He also appeared in two games for the Flyers. He was Edmonton’s third-round selection (81st overall) in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft, and was originally acquired by the Flyers from the Oilers on June 6, 2008 in exchange for Ryan Potulny.
