Sixers entertain Bobcats in MLK Day matinee

The Philadelphia 76ers will celebrate Martin Luther King, Jr. Day this afternoon with a matinee affair versus the Charlotte Bobcats at Wells Fargo Center.

The 76ers ended a two-game losing streak and won for the third time in five tries with Friday's 95-94 win over the Milwaukee Bucks. Lou Williams scored 25 points off the bench and buried the go-ahead three-pointer with 43.8 seconds remaining to lift the Sixers.

Andre Iguodala had 15 points, seven assists and six rebounds, and also had a key block on Bucks forward Corey Maggette in the waning moments of the game. It was Iguodala's second game back after missing seven contests with an injured right Achilles.

"Yes. In the Indiana game he was not himself," Sixers head coach Doug Collins said of Iguodala. "As I said to you before, he had to get out there and play sometime. Had we held him out that night, tonight might have been the night he had that kind of game. You have got to get back out."

Elton Brand posted 15 points and Jrue Holiday compiled 10 points and five boards in a winning cause. The 76ers are 11-7 in south Philly this season and have received double figures in scoring from Holiday in each of the past 11 games. Philadelphia started the season 1-4 at Wells Fargo Center, but has gone 10-3 since.

Charlotte will begin a short trek through Philadelphia and Chicago today, and has lost back-to-back games since a four-game winning streak. In Saturday's 88-81 loss versus New Orleans, Stephen Jackson finished with 15 points, eight rebounds and six assists, while Gerald Wallace netted 15 points in defeat.

Kwame Brown turned a few heads with 12 points and 14 rebounds for Charlotte, which got 12 points and seven assists out of D.J. Augustin. The Bobcats are 6-4 under new head coach Paul Silas. Bobcats forward Tyrus Thomas was ejected for elbowing Hornets big man Emeka Okafor late in the game with Charlotte down by an 81-77 score.

"He hit him...What they saw was correct," Silas said on NBA.com. "We just can't have that at the time, we just can't. We're right in the ball game."

The Bobcats own a 4-13 ledger away from home this season. Augustin has scored in double figures in 10 straight games, averaging 19.0 points in that time.

Philadelphia defeated Charlotte, 109-91, back on Dec. 4 this season at Wells Fargo Center, but the Bobcats are 7-3 in the past 10 meetings between the two clubs. The Bobcats have lost nine of the 12 encounters in south Philly.
