Eagles snare CB Carroll

PHILADELPHIA - The Philadelphia Eagles continued a busy Thursday morning, signing cornerback Nolan Carroll to a two-year deal.

The Eagles also acquired running back Darren Sproles from the New Orleans Saints in exchange for a 2014 fifth-round draft pick on Thursday.

Carroll played his first four seasons with the Miami Dolphins after being selected in the fifth round of the 2010 draft.

"Nolan Carroll brings good experience to our team," said Eagles coach Chip Kelly in a statement Thursday. "He's been a starter in Miami. He's a good athlete and he'll bring good depth to our cornerback position. His skill set fits what we are trying to do on defense and special teams."

He started 12 of the 16 games he appeared in last season, totaling three interceptions and two sacks.

Over his career, Carroll has three sacks and five picks in 58 games, which includes 26 starts.
