Team USA advances by blasting Czechs at Worlds

Johnny Gaudreau registered a hat trick, JT Miller posted three points on a goal and two helpers, while Riley Barber added two more strikes as Team USA rolls on in the medal round with a 7-0 rout of the Czech Republic early on Wednesday.

Ryan Hartman also scored, with Seth Jones and Jacob Trouba contributing four assists apiece.

John Gibson was true on 31 shots to record his first whitewash of the tournament, vastly outplaying counterparts Matej Machovsky (four goals on 25 shots) and Patrik Bartosak (3G on 12 shots).

Barber and Gaudreau each scored twice in a big second period for the Americans, who increased a slim 1-0 lead to 6-0 by the time 40 minutes elapsed.

The path to Gold will hit a tremendous bump, as the USA is set to square off against Canada at 4 AM on Thursday morning in the semifinals. Canada topped the Americans by a 2-1 count on Sunday in group play.

Flyers draft pick and Union College defenseman Shayne Gostisbehere should be in the lineup, after having served his one-game suspension.
