Majewski and Davis set to square off in Atlantic City

Atlantic City, NJ - Middleweights Patrick Majewski, of Somers Point and Jamaal Davis, of Philadelphia meet in the 10-round main event on Saturday, Feb. 23, at Bally’s Atlantic City.

The Majewski-Davis contest tops a seven-bout card which begins at 7.30 pm.  The show will be streamed live by www.gofightlive.tv.

Majewski, 33, has won his last three fights, including a 10-round decision over another Philadelphian, Latif Mundy, last Sept. 29 at Resorts International in Atlantic City.

A pro since 2006, Majewski is 20-1, 13 K0s.

Ranked No. 8 in the world by the World Boxing Council (WBC), Majewski also has defeated Chris Fitzpatrick, of Albany, NY, Jimmy Lubash, of Pittsburgh, PA, Marcus Upshaw, of Jacksonville, FL, Antwon Echols, of Davenport, IA; Joe Gomez, of Bloomfield, NM.

This will mark Majewski’s fifth fight at Bally’s Atlantic City, where he is 4-0.

Majewski is managed by Arnold Robbins and trained by Robbins and Bill Johnson out of the Atlantic City PAL gym.

Davis, 31, is moving up from junior middleweight for this match.  He has won his last two fights, a pair of eight-round decisions over Eberto Medina, of Newark, NJ, and Doel Carrasquillo, of Lancaster, PA.

A pro since 2003, Davis (left) is 14-8-1, 6 K0s.  This will be Davis’ sixth fight in the 1,500-seat Bally’s Ballroom, where he is 2-2-1, losing only to contenders Gabriel Rosado, of Philadelphia, and Ossie Duran, of Newark, NJ.

Majewski vs. Davis is a contrast in styles.  Majewski likes to walk forward and trade while Davis chooses to move a bit and pick his spots.  Majewski has the edge in power, Davis in boxing ability.

“This fight is a natural but it took some time to make,” said promoter J Russell Peltz.  “It follows the three important steps:  First, do the styles match up?  Yes.  Second, does it lead somewhere?  Yes, the winner becomes a player at 160.  Third, would I pay to see it?  Absolutely!”

Davis is self-managed and trained by Sharron Baker and Nazim Richardson.  He works out of the James Shuler Memorial Gym in West Philadelphia.
