Union lose Mondragon to broken finger

Mondragon's damaged digit
The struggling Philadelphia Union will be without All-Star goalkeeper Faryd Mondragon for the next two to four weeks.

The veteran fractured the ring finger on his right hand in the team's 2-1 loss in Salt Lake City on Saturday and was scheduled to undergo surgery this morning.

Mondragon confirmed the news on Twitter writing: "Just got out from the X-rays unfortunately I have an extra-articular phalanx fracture out 2-4 weeks." He also posted a picture of the X-Ray.

The Union, who haven't won since July 17, have two home matches scheduled this week, Wednesday against the New England Revolution and Saturday against the Portland Timbers. Rookie Zac MacMath, the 5th overall pick in the 2011 MLS Super Draft out of Maryland, will man the net for Philadelphia.
