Phillies assistant GM LaMar resigns

The Phillies announced on Tuesday that Chuck LaMar resigned his post as the club's assistant general manager of player development and scouting.

"We appreciate the contributions Chuck has made to the organization over the past four years," said Phillies general manager Ruben Amaro Jr. "We wish him the best as he pursues other opportunities."

LaMar joined the club in October of 2007 as director of pro scouting, and was elevated the following year to his assistant GM post.

The native of Houston previously served as a scout with the Reds, director of minor league operations with the Pirates and director of player development and scouting for the Atlanta Braves.

He then moved on to become the Devil Rays' general manager from 1998 through 2005, and spent the 2007 campaign as a special assistant to the Washington Nationals' general manager.
