Flyers to open rookie camp on Sept. 12

The Philadelphia Flyers announced today that they will hold a three-day “rookie camp” from September 12-15.

The three-day camp will consist of on-ice workouts on September 12-14 at The Virtua Center Flyers Skate Zone in Voorhees, NJ, all of which are free and open to the public.  The camp will conclude when the Flyers host the Washington Capitals in a preseason “Rookie Game” scrimmage, on Thursday, September 15. The game will take place at the Wells Fargo Center at 5 PM.  Admission to the game is free but a ticket is required.  More information can be found on the Flyers website, philadelphiaflyers.com.

The camp, which will immediately precede the club’s main training camp that opens on September 17, will involve several of the team’s young prospects. Those scheduled to participate in the camp include recently-acquired center Brayden Schenn, 2011 eighth-overall pick Sean Couturier; fellow 2011 draft picks Nick Cousins, Colin Suellentrop, Marcel Noebels and Derek Mathers; as well as Jason Akeson, Oliver Lauridsen, Zac Rinaldo and Eric Wellwood.

The on-ice schedule for September 12-14 is as follows:

September 12 – on-ice at 10 AM

September 13 – on-ice at 9 AM

September 14 – on-ice at 11 AM
