Eagles set to sign CFL star Hunt

The Eagles are expected to sign defensive end Phillip Hunt to a three-year deal after he passes a team physical today.

Hunt, who is undersized at 6-foot-1 and 248 pounds, led the CFL in sacks with 16 in 2010 as a member of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. The University of Houston went undrafted coming out of school in 2009 and signed with the Browns before being waived in the preseason.

The Browns and Vikings were also bidding for Hunt's services.

Hunt drew a lot of interest thanks in large part to the success of Cameron Wake with Miami last season. Wake also played in the CFL before joining the Dolphins and was third in the NFL with 14 sacks last season.

Hunt, however, is not nearly as advanced as Wake is as a pass rusher and is expected to be a situational player that can handle 10-20 snaps a game.
