In a move that was hardly surprising, Fox29 sportscaster Bill Vargus' contract was not renewed.
"Billy V." will file his last report for the station on April 29.
Vargus took over for Don Tollefson last year but was never officially named sports director and wasn't sent to recent high-profile events like Villanova’s Final Four appearance.
The FOX29 sports staff will be down to Joe Staszak and the woefully unprepared Hugh Douglas and Anthony Gargano.
Vargus ia a Temple grad and his wife, Sue Serio, continues to work for Fox29.
