Possible Linebrink-Rowand deal shelved

The San Diego Padres have reportedly tabled a trade offer from the Phillies that would have sent outfielder Aaron Rowand to Southern California for highly-regarded reliever Scott Linebrink.

“It might be something we discuss again later this spring,” Padres general manager Kevin Towers told the San Diego Union-Tribune . “But right now I want to see what we have in spring training. I want to see how (outfielder) Terrmel Sledge plays and how our bullpen shapes up.”

That would have been a sweet deal for the Phils.
