The irony is striking. Ron Rivera has interviewed for nine head coaching vacancies over the last two offseasons -- closing the deal on "0" -- now he likely will be out of work.The former Philadelphia Eagles linebackers coach is not expected to be back as Chicago Bears defensive coordinator, according to ESPN.com. The Bears and representatives for Rivera broke off contract negotiations, and barring a last second change of heart, linebackers coach Bob Babich will be elevated to defensive coordinator.
In that case, a once-thought coaching commodity will be a 2007 free agent.
