VOORHEES, N.J. – Deja vu all over again.
For the second time in this truncated season, Andrej Meszaros injured his left shoulder in a game against the New York Rangers.
It was suffered in the closing minutes of yesterday’s 5-2
loss to the Rangers when he collided with an opposing player on a
clearing attempt in his own zone.
Flyers GM Paul Holmgren said Meszaros will be out of the lineup indefinitely, and has been placed on injured reserve to facilitate the call-up of defenseman Erik Gustafsson from Adirondack.
Meszaros
already missed more than a month this season with a similar injury,
also suffered against the Rangers in the fourth game of the season.
It
has been a trying year for the Flyers defenseman -- who's bad luck on the health front began with a back injury that
required surgery last March, followed by a ruptured Achilles tendon that required
surgery in July and a pair of shoulder injuries this season.
