PHILADELPHIA - The Eagles have signed quarterback G.J. Kinne to a two-year contract.
Kinne, who was coached by Eagles offensive quality control coach Press Taylor and played alongside Eagles WR Damaris Johnson while at Tulsa, completed his three-year college career ranked second in school history in passing yards (9,472), total offense (10,831 yards) and passing touchdowns (81).
As a senior, Kinne (6-foot-2, 234) garnered second-team All-Conference USA honors after throwing for 3,090 yards and 28 touchdowns while also rushing for 405 yards and three touchdowns. A three-time Conference USA All-Academic selection, Kinne was named the conference’s offensive player of the year as a junior in 2011. He transferred to Tulsa in 2008 after spending his freshman season at the University of Texas.
Originally a rookie free agent signing of the New York Jets in 2012, Kinne was waived by the team in June and held brief stints with the Omaha Nighthawks of the UFL and the San Antonio Talons of the Arena Football League before signing with Philadelphia.
