The Phillies have placed All-Star centerfielder Shane Victorino on the disabled list with a Grade 1 sprain of his right thumb. The move is retroactive to last Monday, a day after he suffered the injury after stumbling in the outfield in Toronto.
Pete Orr was recalled from Triple A Lehigh Valley to take his place on the roster.
In 68 games this season, Victorino is batting .303 with 14 doubles, nine home runs, 34 RBI and 13 stolen bases. He earned a spot on the National League All-Star roster yesterday through the MLB's "Final Vote" in balloting by the fans.
