The Philadelphia Flyers tied up the last remaining loose end from the Mike Richards deal, signing restricted free-agent forward Wayne Simmonds to a multi-year contract.
Terms of the pact were not disclosed, but multiple reports have it as a two-year extension worth $3.5 million. The cap hit will be $1.75 million per season.
The 22-year-old was acquired from the Kings on June 23 as part of the shocking trade which shipped the club's captain to the West Coast.
Simmonds recorded 14 goals and 30 points in 80 games with LA last season. Over his three-year career, all with the Kings, the Ontario native racked up 39 goals and 93 points in 240 appearances.
