Philadelphia Union, Real Salt Lake and Major League Soccer announced today the rescheduling of a regular season match originally slated for Saturday, April 23. The match will now be played on Saturday, September 3, at 9:00 p.m. EST at Río Tinto Stadium. The two clubs mutually agreed to move the match in support of Real Salt Lake’s bid to win the upcoming CONCACAF Champions League Final.
On April 20 and 27, Real Salt Lake aim to become the first MLS club since 2000 to capture the region’s club championship and the first MLS club to participate in the prestigious, seven-team FIFA Club World Cup. Real Salt Lake travel to face reigning Mexican League champion Monterrey next Wednesday, April 20, in the first leg of the two-game, aggregate goals final, and then return home to Rio Tinto Stadium for the decisive second leg on April 27.
