Former Eagles fullback Kevin Turner is currently battling amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, ALS or Lou Gehrig's disease.
Turner, who is now a 41-year old father of three, was diagnosed 10 months ago and told Tim Graham of ESPN.com that the head trauma associated with playing football contributed to the disease that will eventually kill him.
"Football had something to do with it," said Turner. "I don't know to what extent, and I may not ever know. But there are too many people I know that have ALS and played football in similar positions. They seem to be linebackers, fullbacks, strong safeties. Those are big collision guys."
