Flyers update 3/6/11

In the wake of Sunday afternoon's dreadful 7-0 road loss to the New York Rangers, Flyers head coach Peter Laviolette has decided not to hold a practice session, according to multiple reports.

With a home game against West-worst Edmonton coming up on Tuesday, the fact that the flu has been making its vicious rounds, and that cracking the whip recently has met with disastrous results, maybe it is time for some patience and rest.

As far as the game is concerned...
  • This was the Flyers' worst-ever loss to the Rangers at Madison Square Garden, eclipsing previous five-goal defeats, the last of which was a 5-0 defeat on March 21, 2007.
  • It was the worst overall loss since the Sabres hung a 9-1 decision on the Orange and Black on October 17, 2006.
  • Ryan Callahan posted a career-best four goals for New York.
  • Mats Zuccarello, a member of the Norwegian Olympic team last season at Vancouver, posted a career-best two goals.
  • This was Philly's worst shutout road loss since taking an 8-0 dive at Dallas on January 6, 1994.
