Cleary-ed up: Danny back in Detroit

The biggest news on the first day of training camp, aside from the artwork on the masks of both starting goaltenders, was that Dan Cleary didn't arrive in Philadelphia as planned.

Signed to a PTO earlier in the week, the 35-year-old winger was slated to skate with the first group of players at the Wells Fargo Center, but was a no-show.

It's now official that Cleary has signed a one-year deal to remain in Motown, which means we can all go back to our regularly-scheduled story-breaking.

Yours truly will be hitting up the afternoon skating session, set to begin at 12:30 PM.

The vacancy means the door is wide open for Scott Laughton to make an impression and snag a roster spot with the big club.
