Hamels scratched with hamstring strain

Things are going from bad to worse in the short term for Ryne Sandberg's club.

Already wrestling with a franchise-record nine-game road losing streak, the Phils will be without their left-handed ace.

Cole Hamels has been scratched from Friday's scheduled start against the St. Louis Cardinals because of a mild hamstring strain.

Phillipe Aumont will be recalled from Triple-A Lehigh Valley to take Hamels' place on the mound as the Phillies open a three-game series with the Cardinals at Citizens Bank Park.

Hamels, who is winless in his last four outings, has gone 5-5 with a 2.96 ERA over a major-league leading 14 starts.

Aumont has started 10 of his 14 games this season with the IronPigs, notching a 3-4 record with a 2.35 ERA and 58 strikeouts. He has registered a 1-5 mark with a 6.13 ERA over a three-year major league career.
