In addition to opening their exhibition schedule with a game against the New York Islanders on Sept. 21, the Philadelphia Flyers will play six more preseason contests with a twist -- they'll only come against one of three fellow Metropolitan Division rivals.
To complete a home-and-home set, the Flyers and Islanders will also play at Barclays Center the same day in what can best be described as a split-squad series.
Philly will then host the New York Rangers on Sept. 22 and see the Islanders again on their real home ice three days later.
Next, a matchup with the Blueshirts at Madison Square Garden on Sept. 28 before a two-game set with the New Jersey Devils, first home and then road, on Sept. 30 and Oct. 2.
