Chester, Pa. – After winning the IMG Suncoast Pro Classic on Saturday night, the Union returned to Philadelphia Sunday after spending the better part of the last four weeks in Clearwater, Fla. while getting ready for the 2015 MLS season.
The team went 3-2-1 while in the Sunshine State, highlighted by Saturday’s win over New York Red Bulls in Bradenton.
The Union won games over Costa Rica U-23s (3-0), London United (6-0) and Columbus Crew SC (1-1, 5-3) before defeating Red Bulls (3-1) in the championship. Newly-acquired Fernando Aristeguieta scored four goals in three games to lead the team. Andrew Wenger also scored four goals during preseason, three of which came during tournament. He scored two goals in the championship game.
Back in Philadelphia, the club will train at the University of Pennsylvania on Tuesday and Wednesday due to inclement weather. Tuesday night, Dave and Buster’s will host the Annual Meet the Team event, which will also include the team’s secondary jersey unveiling.
The club will then open their brand new training ground outside PPL Park on Thursday before opening its 2015 season against Colorado Rapids at PPL Park on Saturday. The game will be broadcast on 6abc.
