Chester, Pa. – The Philadelphia Union have agreed to terms with defender Raymond Lee and midfielder Eric Ayuk Mbu.
Both Lee and Ayuk have been training with the team since the beginning of preseason.
“Both Ray and Ayuk have worked hard during preseason and have earned this opportunity,” Union technical director Chris Albright said. “We’re excited to have them in our group and both should have bright futures here in Philadelphia.”
Lee, 21, was selected by the Union in the fourth round with the No. 71 overall pick of the 2015 MLS SuperDraft. The defender was a four-year starter at Saint Louis, where he scored 14 goals and had six assists, playing primarily as a midfielder. He was a second team All-Atlantic 10 performer in 2014 and helped carry the Billikens into the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
“I want to thank the Philadelphia Union for giving me this opportunity,” Lee said. “I will continue to work hard with teammates and the coaching staff to do everything I can to improve as a player.”
Ayuk, 18, is a Cameroonian-born midfielder who joins the team from Rainbow FC Bamenda in Cameroon.
The Union will open the 2015 MLS Regular Season against Colorado Rapids at PPL Park on Saturday at 4 p.m..
