(The Phanatic Magazine) – Former Temple linebacker Jordan Martin has signed a contract with the Missouri Monsters of the Ultimate Indoor Football League (UIFL) for the 2013 season.
“There is a saying within our game-- 'Sign the players you never want to play against.' Jordan is that type of player. His ability to read and react as well as switch directions complements our game perfectly,” Monsters head coach Jarrod Rogol said.
Martin will report for training camp in February. The regular season begins in March. During its inaugural season in 2013, the franchise will play its homes games at Family Arena in St. Charles, Missouri.
“I took so much from my time with Temple football about how to be a professional,” Martin said. “I know that the knowledge I gained there will be a tremendous asset to me as I take my career to the next level.”
Martin joined Temple as walk-on in 2007. Named the team’s 2010 Dr. Arthur N. Cook Most Courageous Athlete Award, he earned the team’s Most Improved Special Team Player Award following 2009 spring drills. Martin played two seasons for the Owls. In 2008, he saw action in all 12 games with one start. In 2009, Martin played in all 13 games, helping the Owls advance to the EagleBank Bowl where he made a solo stop against UCLA. During his final season in 2010, Martin suffered a season-ending injury.
