The Philadelphia Flyers signed goaltending prospect Johan Backlund to a multi-year contract extension on
Tuesday. Per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The 28-year-old spent most of last season with the Flyers' American Hockey League club in Adirondack, going 21-17-2 with a 2.79 goals against average. He made his NHL debut on March 27, losing a 4-1 decision to Pittsburgh and giving up three goals.
Backlund also saw action in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference semifinals against Boston.
The native of Sweden had originally signed a one-year deal with Philly on March 26, 2009.
